Introducing...

BARBARA PALVIN! The newest Victoria's Secret Model

Barbara has been one of my all time favourite models for a long time now and I am so excited to here that she is one of the newest Victoria's Secret Models! I think she will do really well modeling for them as her look is so gorgeous, sweet and innocent yet flirty and cute, just how Victoria's Secret Models are meant to be! Some say that at only 18 years old it is completely inappropriate for her to be modeling such revealing, women's lingerie but I believe that she is now an adult and it is an amazing opportunity for her modeling career. As long as she is comfortable with doing it and she is being looked after then thats all that matters.

3 Homemade Face Mask Recipes

These are three great homemade face mask recipes I found that I thought I would share with you.

For dry skin try:
Banana Face Mask
~ Banana is especially soothing for dry skin ~
1. Mash together half a ripe banana, a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoonful of thick cream.
2. Smooth over the face and leave for at least 15 minutes, then wash off.
3. Store the extra in the fridge, use within three days.

For oily skin try:
Strawberry Face Mask
~ The malic acid in strawberries helps to brighten and tone the skin ~
1. Mash up three large ripe strawberries. You can also add a teaspoon of honey to make the mixture less slippery and more sticky if you like.
2. Smooth onto skin - don't leave it on too long because strawberries are quite acidic (try three minutes the first time), then rinse off.

For combination skin try:
Avocado Face Mask
~ The oils in avocado make them rich and moisturising on the skin ~
1. Mash half an avocado until it is as smooth as you can get it. Make sure you choose a ripe one, otherwise it won't mash however hard you try.
2. Massage the mash onto your face and leave it for 15 minutes, then rinse off. Don't panic when it starts to go brown, thats just how it reacts to the oxygen in the air.

Hope they all work well for you!

Jetset Bohemian

♡ jet set
noun ( the jet set) informal
wealthy and fashionable people who travel widely and frequently for pleasure : [as adj. ] the jet-set lifestyle.

♡ bohemian |bōˈhēmēən|
noun
a person who has informal and unconventional social habits, esp. an artist or writer : the young bohemians with their art galleries and sushi bars.

Located on 35 Surrey Crescent, Grey Lynn, Jetset Bohemian is one of my favourite boutiques in Auckland. It has everything such as clothing, footwear, bags and jewellery. Many of the items are vintage and each item is unique and full of character. The boutique itself is a destination filled with vintage furniture and gorgeous rugs. The prices range but are generally quite reasonable. Bold and outgoing, Jetset Bohemian is a destination for any fashion lover.

DIY Summer Dress

I saw this picture on tumblr last night and fell in love with everything about it. Her hair, the bag, the cameras and ...  the dress. It is so cute and summery I decided I needed one. I thought about it and I don't think it would be too hard to make so here is part of my plan and hopefully I will be able to start working on it next week! I'm so excited! :) ♡ xx

DIY Summer Skirt

A few years ago I was given a pink brother sewing machine for Christmas. At the time I had no idea how to use it and as the extent of my mothers sewing was stitching ribbons onto my ballet shoes I had to figure it out for myself. A few months ago during the holidays, I decided to make a skirt and once I set my heart to something I won't give up until I've done it. It turned out to be really easy, you don't even need a pattern and I've worn the skirt heaps! I even wore it to the Katy Perry concert! Follow these instructions to make your own.

♡ First, lay out a 1.5 square meter piece of fabric on a flat surface. If the fabric is sheer (see through) double it over. If it doesn't need to be doubled over cut one edge to the length you want the skirt to be i.e. above your knee. You can use a tape measure to figure out this length by measuring from your waist where the skirt will sit to where you want it to come to. Add on about 4 cm seam allowance.

♡ You should now have a piece of fabric with a length of 150 cm and a width of around 50 give or take.

♡ Pin the short edges of the fabric together with the good side of the fabric facing inwards. Sew this.

♡ Take the bottom of the skirt and fold it up about 1 cm on the inside. Pin it and then sew it. Then fold it up another two cm's, pin it and sew it again to prevent fraying.

♡ Take a piece of elastic and wrap it around your waist where you want the skirt to sit. Ensure it is snug but not tight. Add 4 cm seam allowance and cut it.

♡ Fold the top of the fabric over onto the inside so there is enough room for the elastic to fit inside. Pin and sew leaving about a 6 cm gap at the back.

♡ Slide the elastic through until both ends meet at the hole at the back. The easiest way to do this is by attaching a safety pin to one end so you can pull it through.

♡ Overlap the elastic by about 4cm and sew it in a figure 8 so it is durable.

♡ Fold the fabric over the elastic and sew up the hole.

♡ Congratulations your skirt is finished! xx

I hope you liked these instructions and find them useful enough to make your own skirt. You can use any fabric you like and it is really easy to wear. If you have any trouble with it just leave a comment and I will get back to you asap! xx :)

To The Beach

To The Beach

So for those of us who live in the Southern hemisphere, summer is on it's way and I know for me that means going to the beach or the lake. Above are a few things I recommend to take with you whenever you head out for a day in the sunshine by a lake, river or the sea.

First of all pack everything in a cute tote bag that you can carry around with you.

Put on your bikini and throw on a cute beachy dress or kaftan over top.

Throw on some jandals or thongs if your from aussie :)

Other things I think are worth taking are a good book, sunblock, a light jersey, a beach towel, a sunhat and some sunglasses. Also don't forget your camera!

Get Glowing Skin This Summer

Do you want glowing skin this summer?

Follow these tips to achieve skin like Miranda Kerr & Isabel Lucas!
♡ Exfoliate daily with a glove or mitten to brush away dead skin cells. This is especially important in summer as chlorine can really dry out your skin!
♡ Moisturise after every shower and swim with gorgeous body butter for soft, smooth skin. I recommend MOR Neroli Clementine Body Butter. It works great and it smells amazing!

♡ For an extra glow, I recommend 'Dove Summer Glow' It's a moisturiser combined with fake tan. It applies really easily and doesn't go streaky at all. It builds a gradual and natural looking tan. I've heard it works on your face too but I have always been too scared to try it!

♡ If you want to tan in the sun, even though it is terrible for your skin, tan in short periods in the morning or late afternoon, not during midday to decrease the risk of burning.

♡  Don't wear your sunglasses when you first go out in the sun as seeing sunlight triggers the production of the hormone that triggers the production of melanin. Melanin is what makes your skin tan and tanning is how your body protects itself from the suns rays.

♡ For your face I recommend Aveeno 'Positively Radiant Moisturiser' It works really well and it is SPF 30, not to mention that it has tiny light diffusers which give your face a slight shimmer and glow.
